In Loving Memory

In August 2026, we unexpectedly lost Azalea following a difficult medical situation that, despite every effort and all available care, was ultimately beyond our control. We are incredibly grateful for the time we had with this special mare and heartbroken that her time with us was cut short.

Azalea leaves behind a legacy that will continue at Hidden Creek Ranch through her offspring. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to include a mare of her quality, pedigree, and wonderful character in our breeding program. While we wish we could have had many more years and foals with her, we are thankful for what she gave us and proud that a piece of her will live on through the next generation.

Azalea will forever be a treasured part of the Hidden Creek Ranch story.

Total 54 and Premium Mare Candidate, Approved Book 1

Azalea was a beautiful and correct trakehner mare who stands approx 16.2 hh. She had a super lovely personality and is willing and sweet.

She was by the legendary trakehner stallion, Windfall , who is the sire of Tsetserleg and Vandiver, both members of the 2020 USA Olympic Team. Tsetserleg ridden by Boyd Martin was the Land/Rover USEF CCI5*-L Eventing National Champions at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event in 2019. Later that same year, Tsetserleg and Boyd won the team and individual gold medals at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. In 2020, Martin and Tsetserleg made their Olympic debut in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Vandiver, also by Windfall, and ridden by Doug Payne, finished 16th at the Tokyo Olympics (2020) as a member of the sixth-placed American team. Vandiver has completed Kentucky three times previously, finishing fifth in 2019 and 12th in 2021. He has also won three times at four-star level.

Avignon II is a full brother to the important major sire EH Arogno in Germany, who founded one of the strongest dressage lines in the breed today. Among his many approved sons are several that competed at S levels and FEI in dressage, e.g. Schwadroneur, EH Partout, EH Napoleon Quatre, Karon or Giorgio Armani.

The second sire Flaneur is named “century sire” for the Trakehner breed, and truly deserves this title. He had many sons that had significant impact on the breeding of dressage horses, not only in the Trakehner breed. Imagine where we would be without Gajus, Istanbul, Rubin, EH Arogno and the like. Flaneur’s sire Maharadscha was a grey Trakehner of significant importance to the breed, especially also through his daughters. Among the most famous are the mares ES Abiza E and Fawiza. While Abiza is most known for her son Abdullah Pg*E, Fawiza, among others, produced the excellent grey Fabian (like Abdullah a son of Donauwind), but unlike Abdullah, he was an international Grand Prix dressage stallion for owner Dr. Reiner Klimke.

To say her pedigree is the “best of the best” and proven eventing lines would be putting it lightly.
