Designer Pearls xx, affectionately known as “Pearl,” is a 2022 Jockey Club registered perlino Thoroughbred mare who brings together everything we look for in a mare: quality, athletic blood, exceptional temperament, and truly unique genetics.

While her striking color may be the first thing you notice, Pearl is far more than a pretty face. She descends from generations of purposefully bred colored Thoroughbreds, with her pedigree carrying several of the most recognized names associated with dilute Thoroughbred bloodlines, including Guaranteed Gold, Milkie, Canadian Kid, RFF King’s Ransom, Glitter Please, and Zillionair. Pearl’s maternal grandsire, Guaranteed Gold, became particularly well known not only for his rare color genetics, but for producing attractive, athletic horses with wonderful, amateur-friendly temperaments. His offspring found success in hunter breeding, eventing, dressage, and sporthorse breeding programs.

That wonderful disposition has certainly carried forward to Pearl. She is an exceptionally kind, sensible, easy mare who is a pleasure to have in the barn and has proven to pass those qualities to her offspring. We place tremendous value on temperament in our breeding program, and Pearl exemplifies exactly the type of mind we hope to reproduce.

As a homozygous cream dilute (Cr/Cr), Pearl will pass a cream gene to 100% of her offspring, guaranteeing a dilute foal regardless of the stallion selected. This gives us the exciting opportunity to produce palomino, buckskin, smoky black and other dilute variations while never sacrificing our primary goals of producing correct, athletic, rideable sporthorses.

Pearl has already proven herself to be an exceptional young broodmare. Her 2026 Thoroughbred colt demonstrated exactly what we hoped she would produce: a striking, quality youngster with tremendous commercial appeal. Her 2027 foal is a repeat of that successful Thoroughbred cross.

Looking toward the future, we are particularly excited about Pearl’s potential within our Trakehner breeding program. When paired with appropriately approved Trakehner stallions, Pearl offers us the opportunity to combine her Thoroughbred refinement, temperament and unique color genetics with carefully selected Trakehner sporthorse bloodlines. Our goal is not simply to breed for color, but to produce exceptional sporthorses that just happen to come in extraordinary packaging.
